We have now completed the driveway area on the property and are so pleased with the results. It was actually all completed a few months ago and now the summer has definitely arrived with temperatures hitting 40 degrees daily it has luckily forced me inside and given me a chance to sort through all of our images and post some 'afters' at last...

We have replaced the old crumbling carport /parking space with a similar structure the same size just alot safer and now more structurely sound. We cut all of the old branches off of the tree above and completely cleared the area. This has made a huge difference to this end of the driveway creating a much more pleasing asthetic. A non complicated build with so much impact overall.
Another simple structure was created up near the front door area as a cover for the car which is so needed in the summer months here. We mirrored the materials used in the bigger carport to create an intentional cohesive look across what is now quite a large drive and parking area.

Taking out the bank of overgrown oleanders was a great idea to not only create more space in the drive and to be able to manoeuvre vehicles safely to exit the gateway but also opens up the 'entrance' to the house giving the door area more prominence.
The one element I think I am most pleased with is the 'Plaka', the traditional stone we used for the whole area. This was chosen due to the amount all of the properties around us had used as a material for their outside and common areas. We wanted to keep our property 'in keeping' with the environment and properties around us. The guys we had working for us were amazing and did a great job laying it all. It's such a great solution for large areas as the random pattern of it hides any imperfections, lack of straight lines and works wonders if you are making a slight incline here and there for drainage to make the levels disappear to the eye.

Overall another success I feel and a step further to almost completition on plans for the villa. Just need to start the list for next Winters projects now... watch out Kostis!
